Welcome to St Athanasius Coptic Orthodox Church serving under the guidance and care of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, the 118th Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St Mark and the leadership of his Grace Bishop Anthony, Diocese of Ireland, Scotland, North East England and its Affiliated Regions.

The Coptic Orthodox Church
The Coptic Orthodox Church is one of the oldest Christian denominations, with roots tracing back to the 1st century AD.
It was founded by St. Mark the Evangelist in Alexandria, Egypt, around 60 AD.
The church is part of the Oriental Orthodox family of Christian churches, which also includes the Armenian Apostolic, Syrian Orthodox, and Ethiopian Orthodox Churches.
The Coptic Orthodox Church is a deeply spiritual and historical community, centred in Egypt but with a global diaspora. It plays a crucial role in the preservation of early Christian traditions and theology.
